Born in Akureyri, Iceland, Baldvin Ringsted currently lives in Glasgow where he received an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art in 2007. Ringsted’s background is in music as well as in the visual arts. He studied jazz theory at the F.I.H. School of music in Reykjavik and continues to perform occasionally as an experimental musician. His installations oscillate between an audio and a visual mark-making that reflect the conceptual and historical concerns of each piece. Ringsted has exhibited extensively through out Europe including recent exhibitions at the Akureyri Art Museum in Iceland, Artnews Projects, Berlin, Kunstverein Arnsberg and Glasgow International.
