Eva Merz

Eva Merz, born 1966 in Esbjerg, Denmark, is an artist, designer and photographer; she founded the New Social Art School in Aberdeen, 2004. Lives and works in Glasgow since 2007.

New Social Art School is a long-term collaborative arts project, a network of people from various backgrounds, who contribute with individual skills and ideas. Projects are informed by social and political issues that we have something to say about; research, meetings and interviews form the basis of work, which takes shape in various formats, including photography, video, books and public art.

We intend to communicate issues of common interest directly to the public and hope to encourage others to take part in the social and political debate and thus renew participation in and understanding of the arts. New Social Art School productions include the publications Get A Fucking Job and Tillydrone, the Respect Real People sticker campaign and the Free Daze poster about the criminalisation of street art.
